Husna Abubakar is a multi-media artist and designer interested in using practices from her Swahili identity as a beginning point for her interests in the pre-temporal, metaphysics and the dissection of the superficial and occidental to interpolate a practice that inserts intuitive indigenous ways of creating and thinking.
She has a BAS in Graphic Design and she completed her MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design class of 2024. Her RISD MFA thesis is an exploration of some of these ideas and is available here to read.
